Industry leaders, business chiefs and local dignitaries joined with J A Harrison’s key customers and suppliers last week to celebrate the official unveiling of our new hi-tech production facility.
The installation’s opening ceremony, led by company chairman Alan Shepherd and directors Keith, Martin and Elaine Shepherd, marked the culmination of several months endeavour to ready the production plant for full-scale operation.
Mayor of Oldham Shadab Qumer and Leader of Oldham Council Jean Stretton also watched on as a plaque was unveiled on the facility’s ‘shop floor’ in front of more than 100 attendees and media.
J A Harrison’s Chairman Alan Shepherd told guests in his speech: “It is with immense pride and pleasure that I declare this superb manufacturing facility officially open.
“We could not be where we are without the dedicated work ethic of all members of the company, past and present.”
Managing director Keith Shepherd added: “This facility enables us to stand toe-to-toe with any gasket and seal manufacturer in the world, and opens up new markets for the company – the MoD, aerospace, nuclear power and automotive to name just a few.”
The business brunch event, organised by David Antrobus Marketing of Warrington, toasted with champagne and topped off by a lavish finger buffet was also attended by representatives of the Bank of England and Dept. for International Trade and included guided tours of the facility.
David Antrobus said: “It was fantastic to have so many people, instrumental in J A Harrison’s success, come together to celebrate this landmark occasion.
“It is a testimony to the character of the family and the company that they did.
“We’re delighted the morning was so well received by all.”
