JAH Have Purchased Another CNC Turning Lathe For PTFE And Plastics

J A Harrison have recently purchased a brand new full CNC turning lathe for our PTFE and Engineering Plastics division.

JA Harrison made the decision to purchase this Turning centre to replace an ageing machine that did not have the same machining capabilities. This new machine gives J A Harrison’s PTFE and Engineering Plastics Division, an upgrade to increased machining capabilities, enabling quicker cycling times on the production of PTFE Envelopes for gaskets and on component work, allowing us to turn jobs around that much more quickly

J A Harrisons Mechanical Seal Division Solves Another Leaking Egger Pump

The mechanical seal division at J A Harrison have recently solved a difficult sealing problem on an Egger pump.

They successfully installed a bespoke two bolt cartridge mechanical seal design of shaft size 48mm, named the AC05 Cartridge Seal.

The AC05 is a stationery design with hastelloy C multisprings remaining out of contact of the product being pumped.

The design of this seal also benefits from being fully pressure balanced which means the faces have less wear giving the seal an optimum operating life span.

The seal faces fitted to the seal for this particular project were tungsten carbide with Viton elastomers throughout.

The seal also has flush connections which help to keep the faces free from solids.

The pump housing on the Egger Pump has a lip on it which needed to be removed either by grinding or machining.

The cartridge seal then fitted effortlessly onto the pump.

If you have an Egger Pump and require a technically advanced mechanical seal, please contact Andrew Sykes at J A Harrison on (+44) 0161 832 2282

J A Harrisons Mechanical Seal Division Now Offer Thermosyphon Systems

J A Harrison’s Mechanical Seal Division now offer Thermosyphon systems. Thermosyphons enable a pressure barrier to be formed between the media being pumped and the double cartridge mechanical seal components. This is especially beneficial where the media is extremely viscous or abrasive.

J A Harrison recently installed on site a JAH 10 Litre Thermosyphon system manufactured in 304SS with a cooling coil in 316SS, and pressure gauge, an external pump can be supplied if required. This will aid the barrier fluid to be pumped around the system.

This system is used on a JAH special, pressure balanced vertical cartridge seal as designed by Mr Andrew Sykes, Technical Sales Manager of our Mechanical Seals Division.

Andrew says ‘the use of this technology is very effective in:

1. Removing heat generated by the seal faces and maintaining an acceptable temperature within the seal area
2. To increase the seal pressure to 1.5 bar above the system pressure this maintains a clean liquid going through the seal.’
